«لا بدَّ أن تكونَ الغَريزة، والغَريزةُ وحدَها، هي التي تَدفعُ تلك الطيورَ إلى تلك البُقعةِ بالذات، وإلا فكيفَ نُفسِّرُ أمرَ الطائرِ الذي يصلُ من حوضِ نهرِ الزمبيزي في جنوبِ أفريقيا لا إلى مُقاطَعةٍ في النرويجِ أو بلدةٍ منها أو شجرةٍ من أشجارِ تلك البلدة، بل إلى نفسِ غُصنِ الشجرةِ الذي فقَسَ عليه!» تَعكسُ الطيورُ والأسماكُ والثديياتُ وغيرُها من الكائناتِ تعقُّدَ نظامِ الحياةِ وديناميَّتَه. وهذا الكتابُ يَكشفُ عن أحدِ مَظاهرِ هذا النظامِ حين يَتناولُ ظاهرةَ الهجرةِ في مَملكةِ الحيوان، فيَكشفُ عن التكيُّفِ الفِطريِّ والتلقائيِّ للكائناتِ على مُختلِفِ درجاتِها وفئاتِها، وما يُعانِيه بعضُ هذه الكائنات، حتى إنَّها أحيانًا تَفقدُ حياتَها في سبيلِ هِجرتِها بحثًا عن القُوتِ والمُناخِ المُلائِم، كما تتبايَنُ المسافاتُ التي تقطعُها مُهاجِرةً؛ بين المسافاتِ القصيرةِ التي تَستغرِقُ بضعَ ساعات، والمسافاتِ الطويلةِ التي تَستغرِقُ بضعةَ أشهُر.

Ahmed Hammad Al-Husseini

Ahmed Hammad Al-Husseini: He is one of the first generations of zoology and comparative anatomy in Egypt. Ahmed Hammad Al-Husseini was born in the Assiut Governorate in 1912. From the beginning of his scientific career, he devoted most of his time and attention to zoology; He obtained a master's degree from the Faculty of Science, Cairo University, and a doctorate degree from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom, and continued to advance in his academic life until he took over the head of the animal department at the Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University. The doctor has many books, including: “Marine Mammals of Egypt”, “Birds of Egypt”, and “General Zoology”; Among his translations are: “Science in Our Daily Lives” by Montgomery, and “Life Since It Was” by Parker, among others. The College of Science named one of its stands in honor of his scientific gift. Despite the death of Dr. “Al-Husseini” in 1964 AD, his scientific contributions still constitute an essential reference for the specialist and the ordinary reader.
