Contemporary history, in English historiography, is a branch of modern history, which describes the historical period from 1945 to the present.[1] Contemporary history is considered either a branch of the late modern era, or one of the three main branches of modern history, along with the early modern era and the late modern era. The term "modern history" has been in use at least since the beginning of the nineteenth century
