استخدم الكوريون قبل أكثرمن أربعين سنة الكلمات الكورية التي من اصل صيني بكتابة صينية ، وحينما وجدت صعوبة لدى أطفال كوريين في تعلم الكلمات الصينية مع اللغة الكورية أصدرت وزارة التربية والتعليم بناء على ذلك تصريحاً تمنع فيه تعلم الكلمات الصينية التى أدخلت إلى اللغة الكورية في المدارس ، اما الكلمات الكورية من أصل كوري فهي الكلمات المستخدمة للدلالة على الطعام والشراب والملابس والسكن والأماكن الجغرافية والأفعال البشرية الطبيعية الفطرية ، ومعظم اللواحق والحروف جاءت من اللغة الكورية الأصلية وتستخدم الكلمات الكورية من أصل صيني في أسماء الدوائر الحكومية والاسماء الثقافية التراثية .
