Book Description

Mustafa Sadiq Al-Rafi'i

One of the poles of modern Arabic literature in the twentieth century, he wrote ably in poetry, literature and rhetoric. He belongs to the conservative school, a school of poetry affiliated with classical poetry. “Mustafa Sadiq Abdul Razzaq Saeed Ahmed Abdul Qadir Al-Rafi’i” was born in the village of Bahtim in Qalyubia Governorate in 1880 AD into a family that drew from its certain tributaries of science and literature; His father’s library was filled with precious books, and his father’s house was honored to host a constellation of flags of science and literature. Al-Rafi’i was influenced by that constellation, and was inspired by the beacon of their knowledge of a new horizon of knowledge. His father sent him to the village writers. He memorized and completed the Noble Qur’an when he was not more than ten years old, then joined Damanhour Primary School, and stayed there for a period of time. It is worth noting that it was the deafness that afflicted him that forced him to leave formal education, and replaced him with his father’s library; He worked on reading and absorbing everything in it. He has held a number of positions; He worked as a clerk at Talkha Court, then moved to Itai al-Baroud Court, then Tanta Sharia Court, and concluded his career by affiliation with the Civil Court. The sea of literature enriched him with many of his poetic and prose creations. He issued his first diwan in 1903, while he was in the prime of his youth. This diwan was praised and admired by the poets of his time. Al-Baroudi, Hafez and Al-Kazemi praised him and sent him a telegram of congratulations; But the praise did not deter him from the decision he took to leave the field of poetry and go to the arena of artistic and literary prose in which he excelled, where he presented many literary and religious books, the most famous of which are “Moon Talks”, “Leafs of Roses”, “Under the Banner of the Qur’an”, and The Miracle of the Qur’an and Prophetic Rhetoric”. He ascended to the supreme companion in 1937.
