يتناول هذا الكتاب تلك العصور السحيقة من التاريخ، والتي سبقت ظهور الحضارات القديمة، حيث يحاول «عبد الله حسين» أن يناقش مسألة ظهور الحياة على الأرض ونشوء الإنسان، وما صاحب ذلك من إنتاجٍ عقليٍّ وماديٍّ. ويرفض المؤلِّف اختزال التاريخ في الحضارات التي مارست عملية التدوين فقط، مُتمرِّدًا على هذا النوع من التأريخ المختزِل؛ وذلك لاعتقاده بأنَّ ثمة تجاربَ إنسانيَّةً ثريةً يمكن الاستفادة منها لم تُدوِّنها أقلام البشر، ولذلك فقد تطلَّبت عملية البحث والتنقيب عن هذا التاريخ ما قبل المُدوَّن اعتناءً شديدًا من المؤلِّف بالبحوث الفلكيَّة والجيولوجيَّة والأثريَّة، إلى جانب النظريَّات الفلسفيَّة والعلوم النظريَّة والتطبيقيَّة، وبعض الدراسات المتَّصلة بالآداب والفنون والسياسة.

Abdullah Hussein

Abdullah Hussein: Lawyer, journalist, and historian, author of many historical, literary, political and social publications. Abdullah Hussein was born in the Cairo Governorate to a village family from Bani Udayyat, the center of Manfalout. When he was young, he joined Al-Baroudi’s office to teach the Qur’an, then continued his regular education at Victoria School, the schools of the Islamic Charitable Association and Sheikh Saleh Abi Hadid, and when the boy moved to the preparatory stage, he was always at the top of the list. He graduated from the Royal School of Law (Faculty of Law at Fouad I University). He received his doctorate from the French School of Law "Department of Political and Economic Sciences". He also obtained a diploma from the Institute of Italian Studies and a diploma from the German Institute. Abdullah Hussein is fluent in several languages: French, English, Italian, and German. Abdullah Hussein was one of the members of the Higher Consultative Committee for Cooperation that formulated the Law of Cooperation in 1927 AD, and a member of the Egyptian Mission to Sudan. Abdullah Hussein also worked as an editor at Al-Ahram newspaper, and was a professor in the Journalism Department at the American University until 1942. His travels and his journalistic work allowed him to meet many great men and leaders in the East and the West, such as: the national leader Saad Zagloul, Pope Lebran, Lloyd George, MacDonald, Chamberlain, Eden, Mussolini, Brian, and Bloom. In his youth, he also witnessed many prominent figures of thought, such as: Muhammad Abdo, Ali Youssef, Qassem Amin, Mustafa Kamel, Muhammad Farid, and Abdul Aziz Gawish. On December 31, 1943 AD, Abdullah Hussain died after a drunken car drove into him and led to the amputation of his leg. He continued to bleed all night until his soul overflowed.
