This type of science fiction later became a separate genre in science fiction literature called alternative history. In 1909, Thomas Edison visited Twain at his home in Reading, Connecticut, and filmed him. Some of the footage from that film was used in the short film The Prince and the Pauper, which was produced in 1909.
