Edwar al-Kharrat (March 16, 1926 - December 1, 2015) is an Egyptian writer, born in Alexandria to a Coptic family of origin from Upper Egypt. He obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Alexandria University in 1946 AD. He worked in the British Naval Stores in Bridges in Alexandria, then an employee at the National Bank in Alexandria, after which he worked as an employee In the Egyptian National Insurance Company in 1955 AD, then translated at the Romanian Embassy in Cairo. Edward Al-Kharrat has published more than 50 books of fiction, poetry or criticism. Among his books are: The Walls of High Pride Hours Rama and the Dragon, The Other Time, Ribs of the Desert. He also translated fourteen books into Arabic, and a number of plays and studies. He was awarded the State Incentive Award and the Medal of Science and Arts of the first class in 1973.
