Book Description

"Research Methods in Remote Sensing" by Basudeb Bhatta is a comprehensive guide to conducting research in the field of remote sensing. The book provides an overview of the theoretical foundations of remote sensing and covers various aspects of research design and data analysis. The book is intended for students and researchers in the fields of geography, environmental science, and engineering.

The book begins with an introduction to the basics of remote sensing, including the electromagnetic spectrum, sensor platforms, and image interpretation. The author then discusses the research design process, including the formulation of research questions, the selection of study sites, and the choice of remote sensing data sources. The book also covers data acquisition and pre-processing techniques, including image calibration, atmospheric correction, and image enhancement.

The next section of the book focuses on data analysis techniques for remote sensing data, including image classification, object-based image analysis, and time series analysis. The author provides a detailed discussion of the various algorithms and software packages that can be used to analyze remote sensing data, and includes examples of research studies that have used these techniques.

The book also covers a range of advanced topics in remote sensing research, including hyperspectral and LiDAR data analysis, machine learning, and the integration of remote sensing data with other sources of data, such as ground-based measurements and modeling approaches. The author emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the integration of remote sensing data with other fields of research.

Overall, "Research Methods in Remote Sensing" is a valuable resource for researchers and students who are interested in conducting research in the field of remote sensing. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the theoretical foundations of remote sensing and covers various aspects of research design and data analysis. The author's emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and the integration of remote sensing data with other fields of research makes the book particularly relevant for those interested in using remote sensing data to address complex environmental and social issues.
