Book Description

"Advanced Surveying: Total Station, GIS and Remote Sensing" is a comprehensive guide to modern surveying techniques written by Satheesh Gopi, a civil engineer with over 19 years of experience in hydrography and surveying. The book covers the latest technology and methods used in surveying, including Total Station, GIS, and remote sensing.

The book is divided into two parts. The first part covers the basics of surveying, including the principles of surveying, measurements, leveling, and errors in measurement. The second part focuses on advanced surveying techniques such as Total Station, GPS, GIS, and remote sensing.

The chapters on Total Station cover the use of electronic surveying instruments for measuring angles and distances, as well as their integration with computers for data processing and analysis. The book also covers the use of GIS in surveying, including spatial data analysis and map creation, as well as the use of remote sensing techniques such as LiDAR and photogrammetry.

One of the strengths of this book is its practical approach. The author provides numerous examples and case studies that illustrate how the different surveying techniques can be applied in the field. The book also includes exercises and review questions at the end of each chapter to help readers reinforce their understanding of the material.

In addition to its focus on modern surveying techniques, the book also emphasizes the importance of accuracy and precision in surveying. The author discusses various sources of errors and provides guidance on how to minimize them. The book also covers the legal and ethical considerations involved in surveying, including property boundaries and the use of survey data in legal disputes.

Overall, "Advanced Surveying: Total Station, GIS and Remote Sensing" is an excellent resource for surveyors, civil engineers, and other professionals involved in land surveying. The book's practical approach and emphasis on accuracy and precision make it a valuable reference for both students and professionals in the field.
