Ahmed Reda Houhou: One of the figures of Algerian literature in the twentieth century, a pioneer of the short story in Algeria, known for his opposition to French colonialism and his call to resist the occupier. Ahmed Reda Houhou was born in the village of Sidi Oqba in Biskra in 1910 AD. When he was six years old, his father sent him to enroll in primary school, and then completed his studies in the civil in 1928 AD, but he was unable to continue his secondary education as a result of the policies that the French colonialist prevented the children of Algerians from education. Houhou worked in the Postal Service for a short period. After that, he emigrated from Algeria to the Hejaz lands, where he joined the College of Sharia in Medina, and obtained the highest grades from it. Which qualified him to work in it after graduating in 1938, after which he was appointed editor-in-chief of Al-Manhal magazine for a period of two years. Then he moved to Mecca and worked in the interest of telephones and telegraphs. In 1946, his parents died and he returned to Algeria again, and he joined the Association of Muslim Scholars and was an active member in it. Reda Houhou published his first articles under the title “Thoughts Confused.” In 1949, he founded the “Constantine Appearance” association, through which he was able to present his plays, such as: “The Scrooge”, “The Flower Seller”, and “The Queen of Granada”. Houhou also wrote short stories, including: “The Last Writer”, “Ghada Umm Al-Qura”, “Ibn Al-Wadi”, and “With the Wise Donkey” (he is rightfully considered the pioneer of this type of literature in Algeria), and he has also translated many books Literary of the French. In 1955, he published a collection of short stories entitled "Human Models". Houhou was arrested in 1956 by the French police as being responsible for acts of incitement and violence against the colonizer, and was threatened with execution. In March of the same year, the police governor of Constantine was assassinated, and Houhou was arrested from his home and executed.
